Draft: the government would introduce a wealth tax on very rich private individuals. The tax would be paid yearly on net wealth above HUF 1 billion: 1 percent between HUF 1 billion and 100 billion, and 1.5 percent above HUF 100 billion. Wealth includes property, cash, securities and company stakes, while debts (for example loans taken to acquire the assets) can be deducted, and everyday movable goods are not counted. Spouses are taxed separately and each gets the HUF 1 billion threshold, while the assets of trusts and private foundations are taxed as separate taxpayers so that the tax cannot be dodged. Draft: from 2027 a new flat-rate tax would start for the smallest sole traders, which, unlike the current KATA, could also be chosen as a side activity, for example by pensioners or students, and would again allow invoicing companies. Full-time traders would pay a flat tax of HUF 100,000 a month in 2027 and part-time ones HUF 50,000, and from 2028 the amount would follow the minimum wage. A 15 percent supplementary tax is due on income from companies, against which the flat tax can be credited. The annual revenue limit rises from HUF 18 million to HUF 22 million, and a 40 percent tax is due on the part above it. The current KATA would remain available until the end of 2028 for those already in it at the end of 2026, but with a tax of HUF 75,000 and then HUF 100,000 a month.
