This year again the government gave the Master of Folk Art award to several folk artisans and keepers of tradition. The President appointed and dismissed judges and presented state honours.
The government awarded the Master of Folk Art award to ten folk artists and tradition keepers in 2026. The winners include a bagpipe maker, woodcarvers, embroiderers and weavers, folk dancers and folk singers, a basket weaver, a cooper and a leatherworker, among them Hungarian tradition keepers from Transylvania and Moldavia, for example Tibor Bálint, Clara Gâtu and Demeter Vizoli. The resolution was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Dr Bálint Ruff.

On the occasion of 20 August, state honours were awarded on the Prime Minister's proposal, with the presidential powers exercised by Ágnes Forsthoffer, Speaker of Parliament. The Grand Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit went to actor György Cserhalmi. The Commander's Cross with Star went to, among others, dancer Ildikó Pongor and historian János M. Rainer. The Commander's Cross went to, for example, architect Mihály Balázs, lawyer Botond Fülöp, constitutional lawyer Gábor Halmai and legal scholar András Sajó. Several other scientists, artists, teachers and professionals received lower grades, including gold and silver crosses of merit.

Exercising the President's powers, the Speaker of Parliament dismissed seven judges on the proposal of the president of the National Office for the Judiciary. Due to resignation, Dr Anikó Csorba leaves judicial office on 1 October 2026 and Dr Tünde Handó on 14 October 2026. The dismissal of four judges due to reaching retirement age, and of one judge at their request to retire, takes effect in early 2027.

Exercising the President's powers, the Speaker of Parliament appointed 19 judges from 1 September 2026 on the proposal of the president of the National Office for the Judiciary. Of these, 12 were appointed for a fixed term until 31 August 2029, and seven for an indefinite term.

The Ministry for the Living Environment published the 2026 National Communication Action Plan, which explains responsible waste handling to the public in plain language. It presents the waste hierarchy, from preventing waste through reuse, recycling and home composting to disposal. It gives practical information on separate collection, waste yards, the deposit return system, bulky waste collection and hazardous waste such as asbestos. A separate chapter deals with illegal dumping and its legal consequences. The publication was made with EU (Next Generation EU) support; some of its annexes are not available in our system.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Family updated the register of preferential employers and qualified temporary work agencies. For each company, the tables contain the number and date of the registration decision, the company's name, registered office and tax number, and for agencies also the sites and the financial guarantee. Companies removed from the register and the reason for removal are also listed.
